Car Dog

Leaving dog in car overnight, maximum outside temperature?
I’m traveling across the country via vehicle. Unfortunately all the hotels I’m staying at do not allow for dogs. My dog is a female lab. I’ll be stopping late at night and traveling through northern states. The forecast calls for temperatures between 65-71 degrees overnight. Is this too hot for a dog left in the car? Keep in mind, it will be at night, before the sun comes up and I can crack a few windows.
The nightime temperatures would be in the safe range. However, it is very dangerous to leave her unattended in your car.
There are pet friendly motels in every country and on every route. Are your reservations already set or prepaid?
If you google ‘pet friendly travel’ you will see ooodles of accommodations that allow pets, along with maps.
If it is too late to change motels, you should call each one, and tell them you are just there overnight, and that your dog is quiet and well-mannered, you may find that they will make an exception..Just ask to speak with the manager. Motels are suffering in this time of high gas prices, and are eager for business.
We often stay in rest stops with our dogs, when it is just a day or two of travel…Not every motel will allow SIX dogs..
